A question that companies have been asking since advertising began is “is my advertising working or not” and we think it was Lord Leverhume who once said “I know that 50% of my advertising is working, the problem is I don’t know which 50%

So we set out to find who has the best results and how we can pass those results on to you.

It came about because I was the keynote speaker at the Vacuum Dealers Trade Association and I had a great time. And as I usually do I check out who else is speaking at the events I am at and I noticed this guy who seemed to be saying he was bald and making lots of money from his small business advertising.

So Scott and I checked him out and we found that he had a great story and more importantly he is getting some terrific measurable sales results from his small business retail advertising. We therefore have great pleasure in introducing you to our friend Claude Whiteacre who in our opinion has the best grip and opinions in the area of small business advertising.

His numbers are what impressed us, for instance in 2004 his business grew 90%. In 2005 it grew another 72%. In 2006 it grew at an annual rate of 30%. Is that impressive or what?

In fact his advertising is the driving force behind the huge success his store has been experiencing. Is it luck? No way! It’s because Claude is a numbers man, he has studied what works and what doesn’t work, and he measures everything he does! He knows for instance that his advertising is producing 49% of his retail sales and an unbelievable but true, 70% of his profits;

Example: Last month he ran 2 direct mail ads and a classified ad. The direct mail ads cost him $350 and $175. The $350 ad brought in a little over $8,000 and the $175 ad brought in $4,378. The classified ad cost him $68 for the month and produced $6,098. A little over half of that were profits. His ads have produced as much as $44,000 in sales with an advertising cost of less than $600.

Can he promise you the same results? No, and he won’t.
